The IPL is frequently marketed as a place “where talent meets opportunity.” Since its establishment in 2008, the T20 league has continuously lived up to its motto. Several of today’s India superstars began their careers in the Indian Premier League before moving up the ranks. After exhibiting hints of his ability on Monday night, Ayush Badoni could be the latest to join the list.

Badoni, the batsman for the Lucknow Super Giants, became the third-youngest half-centurion in IPL history, scoring 54 off 41 balls to help his team out of a hazardous scenario against the Gujarat Titans at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The fifty was the culmination of the challenges the middle-order batsman had faced over his cricketing career, which marked his first significant break.

Badoni was reportedly named one of three hitters to watch by the famous Rahul Dravid, who urged former India cricketer Atul Wassan to look after him. Wassan, a member of the Delhi Cricket Advisory Committee, did suggest the batter’s name during a DDCA selection meeting, but it was ignored.

Badoni made his professional debut for Delhi at the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy last year after an unsuccessful selection trial with Mumbai Indians. However, he only got one chance to bat, and he scored eight runs in that innings.

The father of the Delhi cricketer is a documentary filmmaker who lives in Shalimar Bagh in North Delhi. On a cement pitch, Badoni’s father would drill with him for hours. He eventually joined the illustrious Sonnet Club of Delhi, where he was coached by the late Tarak Sinha.

Badoni was despatched ahead of Krunal Pandya by LSG captain KL Rahul on Monday. Before developing, the youngster took his time. From his first 22 pitches, he got 13 runs. Then he became fearless, even smoking Rashid Khan for the first time.

He was picked by LSG at his base price of Rs 20 lakh in the IPL 2022 mega auction, and Badoni didn’t forget to thank Gautam Gambhir for his support.

“I didn’t receive a lot of chances in Delhi.” Gautam bhaiya was a huge supporter of mine. He requested that he participate in my natural game. He promised me that I would not just receive one or two games, but that I would have plenty opportunities to demonstrate my worth. On Monday, Badoni added, “His advice helped me place my natural game.”

Twitter was all praise for Ayush Badoni
