Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India ODI team in their forthcoming tour of Sri Lanka just hours after Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket.
During their Sri Lanka tour, which begins on June 23, Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India ODI team, the Indian women’s team will play three T20Is and as many ODIs in Dambulla and Kandy, respectively.
Mithali announced her retirement from international cricket earlier today, and Harmanpreet Singh, India’s T20I captain, has taken up the ODI captaincy. Harmanpreet Kaur to lead India ODI team and Smriti Mandhana has been selected as her deputy .
Jhulan Goswami, a senior fast bowler, is not on the roster, and Sneh Rana, who played in this year’s World Cup, is also absent from both sides.
Harleen Deol, who has only played one ODI, has been called up to the 50-over team, while Jemimah Rodrigues has been recalled to India’s T20I squad. Jemimah will play her first international match since a T20I series against Australia in October 2021.
Radha Yadav, who last played in July 2021, is also back in the T20I mix. S Meghana, on the other hand, was recently awarded with a place after scoring 73 for the Trailblazers in the Women’s T20 Challenge. Simran Bahadur, a bowling all-rounder who played in India’s pre-ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup tour of New Zealand in 2022, has been added to both squads.
