After his IPL stint, the big-hitting left-arm seamer Daniel Sams joins Essex for Vitality Blast.
Australian allrounder, Daniel Sams joins Essex in the Vitality T20 Blast this season. Sams, 29, has built a solid reputation in the Big Bash League in recent years because to his left-arm seam bowling and batting prowess. He’s a regular with Sydney Thunder and has played in the IPL. He’s been capped seven times in T20 internationals.
He was signed by Mumbai Indians in the IPL public sale last month, and after his time in India is through, he can return to Essex. The final of the IPL will take place on May 29, just two days after Essex begin their Blast campaign with a match against Kent.
“I am overjoyed to secure Dan’s signing for the forthcoming Vitality Blast campaign,” Essex head coach Anthony McGrath said. “He’s such a versatile player, and he’s consistently been one of the top performers in the Huge Bash recently.”
“His left-arm angle is so effective in T20 cricket, but he also has a fantastic change of tempo that makes him a real handful.” He could also provide some firepower to our hitting lineup, and he can hit a long ball.”
Sams has 75 wickets in 56 Thunder outings, giving him the team’s all-time leading wicket-taker. His career strike rate is 150.21, and he hit a career-best 98 off 44 balls in a match against the Melbourne Renegades in January.
