The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are in discussions with Zaheer Khan about him potentially becoming their mentor for the IPL 2025 season, Cricbuzz reported on Monday.
The Lucknow Super Giants, who debuted in IPL 2022, had Gautam Gambhir as their mentor for two consecutive seasons before he joined the Kolkata Knight Riders for IPL 2024.
In the 2024 IPL season, the Lucknow Super Giants did not have a mentor, but recent reports suggest they are now in discussions with Zaheer Khan to fill the role.
Meanwhile, the former left-arm pacer has not yet made a decision. Earlier, it was reported that the the Super Giants had also approached Rahul Dravid, the former Indian head coach, regarding the mentor role.
What are Lucknow Super Giants up to?
The Lucknow Super Giants reached the playoffs in both the 2022 and 2023 IPL seasons under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship. However, they failed to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2024.
Additionally, reports suggest that it is highly unlikely that they will retain KL Rahul, which means that the Karnataka batter will likely be up for grabs in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
