Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh lauded the stellar performances of Rinku Singh in the shortest format of the game, labelling him as the best left-handed batter in India at the moment and emphasising the similarities in their playing approaches.
India’s T20I team has been testing left-handed talents, with Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, and Shivam Dube occupying positions in the top six during the first T20I against Afghanistan on January 11, resulting in a six-wicket victory in Mohali.

After an exceptional IPL 2023 season, Rinku Singh continued his stellar form for Team India in international cricket. The left-handed batter amassed 278 runs in nine innings, boasting a remarkable average of 69.50 and an outstanding strike rate of 180.52.

In a recent interview, Yuvraj Singh underscored Rinku Singh’s skill in making critical decisions during pressure situations. Yuvraj voiced his confidence in Rinku’s potential as a match-winner and a trustworthy finisher, particularly in the No. 5 or 6 positions.

Here’s what Yuvraj Singh told The Telegraph:

“He’s probably the best left-hander in the Indian squad right now. He reminds me of myself – he knows when to attack when to rotate strike, and he’s incredibly smart under pressure.”

“He can win us matches. I don’t want to put pressure on him, but I truly believe he has the skill to do what I used to – to be the finisher who delivers at No.5 or 6.”
