Women’s T20: Women’s IPL will give more opportunities- Harmanpreet

Women's IPL will give more opportunities

Women’s IPL will give more opportunities says t20I skipper Harmanpreet as many in the cricketing world have welcomed the news that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to start a full-fledged six-team women’s Indian Premier League (IPL) next year.

The forthcoming women’s T20 Challenge, which begins on Monday at MCA Stadium, is widely expected to be the final edition of the three-team tournament, which began as an exhibition match in 2018 before being upgraded to its present format in 2019 as it is evident that Women’s IPL will give more opportunities for the women cricketers to perform.

Harmanpreet Kaur, India’s T20I captain, believes Women’s IPL will give more opportunities to female cricketers and that the event’s legacy would be in providing a platform for young Indian cricketers to display their skills and cement their place in the Indian side. Supernovas will play Trailblazers in their first encounter on Monday.

“In the three years that we’ve played these matches, we’ve had some very good players like Shafali (Verma), Richa (Ghosh), and even Pooja (Vastrakar) who attempted to prove herself. We have good games, and the domestic players get a lot of opportunities to shine “In the pre-match virtual news conference, Harmanpreet said.

“Perhaps this will be the final edition of the T20 Challenge, and we’re looking forward to the IPL next year, which will provide more opportunity for the girls to shine. If we talk about the benefits of this event in the previous two or three years, it is because of these games that the performance of the girls in the T20 squad has improved. This event has been beneficial to us “the right-hander added

With each team only receiving two games, Harmanpreet noted that striking a balance between giving inexperienced players opportunities and forging a winning combination will be difficult.

Women’s IPL will give more opportunities as the avenues are few

“There are many players hoping for opportunities in this tiny competition. It’s quite difficult; you only have two critical games to win, and you must also offer young players opportunities. So that was my conversation with the coach about selecting the best eleven.”

“You try to strike a balance, and that’s exactly what we’re doing because it’s a short tournament. First and foremost, we must balance our playing eleven, and if there is room for change in the next game, we will do so. The aim is to go out and win, and we will attempt to do so in whichever combination is most effective.”

It is quiet evident that Women’s IPL will give more opportunities as The Supernovas will play Trailblazers in the evening on Monday before facing Deepti Sharma’s Velocity in the afternoon on Tuesday. Harmanpreet noted that the team has meticulously planned for adequate recovery time between back-to-back games.

“We realised there would be back-to-back matches when we received our schedule here. We addressed how we should handle ourselves due to back-to-back matches with our trainers on the first day. We scheduled extensive sessions, then had a break, and with back-to-back matches, today’s practise session will be shorter, with the goal of getting into recovery and being ready for the next game.”

The women’s IPL, on the other hand, is a clear stepping stone for women’s cricket in the country as Women’s IPL will give more opportunities to female cricketers. “When it comes to the women’s IPL, I believe it is critical for us to win the tournament right now. It is entirely in the hands of the BCCI as to how it should be organised, since they have always considered our best interests, and we are completely reliant on them. It is critical for us to win that competition “Harmanpreet concluded.

Female cricketers and the fans alike are looking forward to see how Women’s IPL will give more opportunities and how the opportunities are utilized.
