Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) suffered a defeat at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the latest IPL 2024 face-off, as the latter secured a convincing seven-wicket win at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
KKR won the toss and elected to bowl first, putting RCB on the batting end. Despite a resilient unbeaten innings of 83 runs off 59 balls by former RCB captain Virat Kohli, RCB posted a total of 183 runs for the loss of six wickets within the stipulated 20 overs.
In reply, KKR easily chased down the target in a mere 16.5 overs, propelled by the dynamic opening partnership of Sunil Narine and Phil Salt, followed by Venkatesh Iyer’s match-winning half-century.
In the midst of this, a video of Virat Kohli has gone viral on social media, depicting him displaying lax fielding during the final overs of the KKR match, raising speculation among fans about his lack of effort to prevent boundaries or dive.
The incident unfolded during the fifth delivery of the 15th over, with Yash Dayal bowling and Shreyas Iyer hitting a boundary. A viral video on social media captures Kohli easily reaching the ball but failing to exert full effort to stop it.
“Why didn’t Virat stopp that boundary even after reaching till there?,” a X user wrote.
Evidently, Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain, is hailed as one of the most physically fit figures not just in cricket but in the broader spectrum of international sports. His commitment to discipline, dietary choices, and fitness regimens is widely acknowledged.
