India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli on Wednesday (November 2) became the highest run-scorer in T20 World Cup history during India’s Super 12 match against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.
Kohli accomplished the milestone when he crossed 16 runs as he surpassed former Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene’s record tally of 1016 runs.

Kohli has managed to achieve the milestone in just 23 innings and has batted at a startling average of 83.42 and a strike rate of 131.71 in T20 World Cups.

Kohli has been in sensational form in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup, having smashed three half-centuries in four matches. He is also the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 220 runs in four innings.

The Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is the second leading run-getter in T20 World Cups with 904 runs in 35 matches.

As for the match, team India posted 184 runs on the board for the loss of six wickets after putting to bat first. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli clobbered half-centuries while SuryaKumar Yadav once again played a blitzkrieg knock of 30 runs off just 16 balls.
