Usman Khawaja, Australia’s Test opener, shared a touching message for Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan after the Asian team outclassed the Kangaroos in the Super 8 clash of the T20 World Cup 2024.
Usman Khawja praised the leg-spinner’s team for their outstanding effort and went on to say that it is unfortunate to not be able to see Rashid Khan & Co. play in Australia.

The Afghanistan National Cricket Team delivered an outstanding performance against Australia, securing their place in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 with a thrilling 21-run victory at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent.
After Afghanistan’s massive win, captain Rashid Khan shared his happiness on Twitter, talking about the significance of their victory over the Mitchell Marsh-led side and how proud they feel after doing that in such a big event.

In response to Rashid Khan’s happiness, Usman Khan praised the Afghanistan National Cricket Team and remarked that their performance would be a source of inspiration for many.
Here’s what Usman Khawaja wrote:

“Well done Brother. The better team on the day. You boys are an inspiration for so many back home and abroad. So sad we can’t see you all play in Australia.”

Why Doesn’t Australia Play With Afghanistan?
Australia decided twice not to play against Afghanistan in the bilateral series. Cricket Australia said they couldn’t play against a country that doesn’t support women. This made a lot of Afghanistan players unhappy, and some even pulled out of the Big Bash League.
It’s quite courageous of Usman Khawaja to voice his support for the Afghanistan players, especially given he is an active player, representing Australia’s national cricket team in red-ball cricket.
