T20 International (T20I) cricket is a format where batters hitting boundaries throughout a match is inevitable. Moreover, it is a sure-shot way of scoring runs at a higher run rate.

So, it is quite obvious the batters will always look to fetch as many fours and sixes as possible to boost their team’s total. And in that process, they also end up accumulating significant runs via boundaries.

This article will list the top 10 instances of batters scoring the most runs by boundaries in a T20I innings (4s & 6s).

Key Insights

Hazratullah Zazai holds the record for scoring the most runs from boundaries in a T20I innings. The Afghani batter accumulated a whopping 140 runs via fours and sixes out of his final score of 162 runs. 

Zazai smashed 27 boundaries, including 11 fours and 16 sixes — the most sixes by a batter in a T20I innings.  

91.52 percent of runs scored by Rohit Sharma from boundaries in his knock of 118 runs against Sri Lanka. This is the highest percentage of runs scored by a batter via boundaries (100+ runs by boundaries). The Hitman ripped apart the Sri Lankan bowling attack, garnering 108 runs by hammering 12 fours and 10 sixes. 

There are over 17 instances of batters scoring 100 or more runs by boundaries, with Aaron Finch having done it twice. 

Finch is the only batter to amass 120+ runs by fours and sixes in 2 different innings, with his final score also going past the 150-run mark on both occasions. One of those knocks was of 172 runs, which is the highest individual score in T20Is.
