Smriti Mandhana, the Indian opening batter, will miss part of the upcoming Women’s The Hundred 2024 season due to her participation in the 2024 Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in July.
Initially scheduled to play the entire season for the Southern Brave franchise, which she joined in 2021, Smriti Mandhana will now have to miss some matches owing to National duty.
Smriti Mandhana has been in the form of her life, having recently smashed two back-to-back centuries and a 90 against South Africa, playing a pivotal role in India’s 3-0 sweep in the ODI series.
Meanwhile, the Southern Brave franchise revealed that uncapped Australian talent Charli Knott will replace Smriti Mandhana for The Hundred 2024 during the Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka.
Smriti Mandhana has been named in India Women’s 15-player squad for the upcoming 2024 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The tournament kicks off on July 19 with Pakistan playing Nepal, while India takes on UAE in Dambulla the same day.
On the other hand, The Hundred 2024 Women’s season will take place from July 23 to August 18. With the 2024 Asia Cup concluding on July 28, the prolific Indian opener is expected to join Southern Brave in the second week of the tournament.
