Ahead of the high-voltage India-Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup 2024, Rishabh Pant shed light on the crowd’s boisterous chants targeting Babar Azam and a funny incident of sledging Virat Kohli during the IPL.
With the crowd gearing up for a thrilling match, chants like “Tel Laga ke Dabur Ka wicket girao Babar ka” (use Dabur oil and get Babar’s wicket) have become a talking point. Pant, known for his flamboyant personality, took these chants in stride.
“As a player, I see these slogans as a way to add spice to the game,” Pant told India TV’s Rajat Sharma. “Both teams are putting in their all for their countries, and the passionate energy from the fans from both sides makes it even more exciting. These chants, like ‘Dabur oil Babar’s wicket,’ create a fun atmosphere.”
The interview also saw the Southpaw reveal a funny moment from IPL 2024. While serving a suspension, Rishabh Pant found himself seated near the RCB dressing room and couldn’t resist a playful dig at Virat Kohli.
“It happened during the RCB match,” Pant explained.
“I was banned for something unrelated, and I was frustrated. Sitting outside, I noticed some commotion near the RCB dressing room. At first, I thought they were cheering for their teammates. Then, I realized it was a good opportunity to tease Virat a bit. I didn’t give him a chance to respond before disappearing!”
Rishabh Pant made his competitive cricket comeback from IPL 2024. Following his brilliant performance for Delhi Capitals, he returned to the Indian set up as BCCI picked him up in the 15-member T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
