With the India-Australia slated for November 2024, it seems the batting legend, Steve Smith is itching to take on the IPL’s new speed demon, Mayank Yadav.
The Punjab Kings and RCB batter had no answer to Mayank’s lightning speed, as he claimed two ‘Player of the Match’ titles and surged to second place in the IPL 2024 Purple Cap standings with six wickets in just two appearances.
Steve Smith, a stalwart of the Test cricket arena, is eagerly awaiting his face-off with Mayank Yadav in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024, set to take place in Australia.
While providing commentary during the RCB vs LSG game, Steve Smith was visibly impressed by Mayank Yadav’s exceptional speed and pinpoint accuracy.
The Australian remarked on the difficulty of maintaining such consistency while consistently reaching speeds of 155 kph, something which Mayank has nailed so far in just two appearances he made in IPL 2024.
Here’s what Steve Smith said on Star Sports:
“Mayank Yadav should play the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, I’m looking forward to facing him.”
