Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has rejected accusations of a drinking party that allegedly involved players and coaching staff prior to their crucial T20 World Cup 2024 match against South Africa.
Notably, Sri Lanka secured only one victory in the T20 World Cup, against the Netherlands. The report alleged that at least five players, including three top-order batters participated in a late-night drinking session.
Sri Lanka Cricket addressed the issue on social media, and declared these allegations baseless:
“SLC categorically and strongly refutes the contents of the article and confirms that no such incidents, as described, have occurred.
Therefore, SLC states unequivocally that the news report is entirely false, fabricated, and baseless,” the SLC tweeted.
