Shubman Gill
India’s cricket team will travel to Zimbabwe for a five-match T20I series beginning on July 5. Shubman Gill is likely to captain the side in the absence of Rohit Sharma, who will be taking a break following the hectic schedule of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to be rested as well after the T20 World Cup 2024, which means the young squad will be travelling to Zimbabwe.
Standout IPL 2024 performers such as Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, and Harshit Rana are expected to travel to Zimbabwe, along with Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Avesh Khan.
In addition to the change in captaincy, the coaching setup will also see a shift, with VVS Laxman likely to accompany the young members of Team India to Zimbabwe as the head coach, while Gautam Gambhir is expected to take charge of the team from the Sri Lanka tour onwards.
The Indian squad, under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, is in the Caribbean for the second stage of the T20 World Cup. They advanced to the Super 8 after securing three wins out of four Group A matches, with one match abandoned before the toss.
