In a massive blow to the Indian cricket team, Shivam Dube has been named as the replacement for the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy in the squad for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, starting on July 6th.
While the exact nature of Nitish Reddy‘s injury is unknown, reports suggest it might be a hernia. Reddy, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2024, made significant contributions with his batting.
Shivam Dube, currently with the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024, will take Nitish Reddy’s place. Dube has scored 106 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 107.07.
“The Men’s Selection Committee named Shivam Dube as a replacement for the injured Nitish Reddy in India’s squad for the upcoming tour of Zimbabwe. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring Nitish Reddy’s progress,” the BCCI said in a statement.
India’s five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe begins on July 6th. The team will be led by young opener Shubman Gill, who was recently released from India’s T20 World Cup squad.
