Former Indian cricketer has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the mentor ahead of the IPL 2024.
The period from 2011 to 2017 marked a golden chapter for the Kolkata-based franchise, with Gambhir at the helm leading KKR to two IPL titles and a Champions League T20 finals appearance in 2014.
KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan has also welcomed back their former captain:
“Gautam has always been part of the family and this is our Captain coming back home in a different avatar as a “Mentor”. He was sorely missed and now we all look forward to Chandu Sir and Gautam in instilling the never-say-die spirit and of sportsmanship they stand for, in creating magic with Team KKR.”

Gautam Gambhir aims to restore Kolkata Knight Riders’ former glory following a couple of disappointing seasons, with the first step set to be taken at the IPL 2024 auction in December.
