Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan’s star pacer, finds himself at the centre of a controversy after being accused of improper behaviour with the coaching staff and team management on recent tours, including the T20 World Cup 2024.
This revelation comes amidst plans for a major overhaul by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the team’s disappointing World Cup campaign. Gary Kirsten, the white-ball coach of Pakistan submitted the report to PCB.
According to a Geo News report, Shaheen Afridi allegedly misbehaved with Pakistan‘s coaches and team management. The Pakistan team visited Ireland and England before travelling to the USA for the T20 World Cup 2024, where these incidents reportedly occurred.
It was the team manager’s task to maintain discipline, but since he failed to do so, PCB sacked the team manager Mansoor Rana. The PCB also severed ties with former players Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq, who had been serving as selectors.
The PCB is currently investigating why no disciplinary action was taken against Shaheen Afridi despite his misconduct. Furthermore, the report stated that players who formed groups within the team are also being investigated.
