The Durban Super Giants (DSG) have secured the services of ex-New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and England’s premier fast bowler Chris Woakes for SA20’s third season.
Kane Williamson stepped down from the New Zealand white-ball captaincy following a disappointing T20 World Cup 2024 performance, while Chris Woakes is currently not considered for England’s white-ball formats.
The duo brings considerable experience to the Durban Super Giants. It will be interesting to see if Williamson is appointed captain or if his extensive experience will still support Keshav Maharaj, the current captain of the Durban Super Giants.
SA20 Getting Bigger & Better
The SA20 is becoming increasingly competitive, as Joe Root joins Paarl Royals and Ben Stokes is set to play for MI Cape Town in the third season. The retention window closed on July 21, but franchises have until August 31 to make direct signings.
