Rohit Sharma’s future with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has become uncertain following his removal from the captaincy in IPL 2024.
Although he remains a player under the leadership of newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya for the current season, there is a strong likelihood that he will be put up for auction in the upcoming mega event.
Ambati Rayudu, having played for Chennai Super Kings, wishes to see Rohit Sharma finish his IPL tenure with CSK. However, there’s a strong chance that Delhi Capitals might vie for Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in the auction.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are also eyeing Rohit for their squad if they get the opportunity. In a recent video, when Rohit’s name came up, LSG coach Justin Langer seemed excited. He was asked who he’d want to see in the team, and he was pumped about Rohit.
“You can be a negotiator if we are going to lure Rohit Sharma here from Mumbai,” Langer said with a laugh.
The IPL mega-auction is slated for December, with an important meeting between the 10 franchise owners and the BCCI set for April 16th. However, there have been reports that teams are asking the board to let them retain eight players before the auction.
