Indian cricket team captain, Rohit Sharma, welcomed the idea of playing Test cricket against arch-rivals Pakistan, particularly in overcast conditions, as he is highly impressed with the fast bowling attack they possess.
Rohit Sharma made these remarks as a guest on the Club Prairie Podcast, hosted by former international stars Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan. During the podcast, they asked a question about the possibility of playing a Test series against Pakistan.
Here’s what Rohit Sharma said:
“I believe they are a good team. They have got a superb bowling line-up, so I think it’ll be a good contest, especially in overseas conditions. That would be awesome,” said the Indian captain.
Notably, India and Pakistan do not engage in bilateral series, with their encounters limited to events like the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments. The last time they faced each other was in the ODI World Cup 2023, held in India.
Even in the World Test Championship, India does not compete against Pakistan. In the last two seasons of the WTC, Pakistan has failed to reach the final. However, if Pakistan qualifies for the WTC final in 2025, it could lead to a Test match between the two teams for the first time since 2007.
