Punjab Kings are likely to part ways with head coach Trevor Bayliss before IPL 2025, as they are looking for an Indian coach.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Sanjay Bangar, who is currently the Director of Cricket for Punjab Kings, is also being considered for the head coach position for IPL 2025.
Notably, Sanjay Bangar was once the head coach of Punjab Kings in the past. The decision was expected to be made on July 22 in a meeting, but the meeting got postponed.
Bayliss, who has plenty of coaching experience under his belt, especially in the IPL with Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad before moving to Punjab Kings, will have his future decided in the upcoming meeting.
Punjab Kings’ Trophy Drought Remains
Punjab Kings are one of those franchises that have yet to lift the IPL title. The team has seen many big star playing for them in the past, like Virender Sehwag, Shaun Marsh, Yuvraj Singh, Glenn Maxwell, and KL Rahul, but has never tasted success.
Under Trevor Bayliss, Punjab Kings ended up in the eighth and ninth positions in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League. If Punjab Kings really decide to part ways with Trevor, it will be interesting to see which Indian coach they secure the services of.
