Afghanistan, on Monday, October 23rd, beat Pakistan by eight wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
This victory marks the first win for the Afghanistan team over Pakistan in the history of One-Day Internationals. Furthermore, this victory is even sweeter as it came in the ODI World Cup 2023.
Pakistan set the target with 282 runs on the board, which Afghanistan successfully chased down in 49 overs, largely thanks to their openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
Afghanistan notched their second win in the tournament, while Pakistan endured a difficult stretch with their third consecutive loss. This string of defeats included their previous defeats against India and Australia, making their situation even more challenging.
Pakistan’s loss left their fans expressing their discontent and frustration on social media. Sehar Shinwari, a well-known actress famous for her candid social media posts, didn’t mince words on Twitter.
Taking to Twitter, Sehar wrote:
“Assalam o Alaikum, My name is Sehar Shinwari and I am Pakistani. I announce disassociation from any support to Zimbabar Cricket Team.”
