Fans of the Mumbai Indians will be relieved to learn that ace batter Suryakumar Yadav returns from injury and has rejoined the team. He appears to be in good shape and has been training with the team today.

Yadav took part in a strength and conditioning exercise with some other Mumbai Indians players on Wednesday and will now be available for Saturday’s encounter against Rajasthan Royals at the D.Y Patil Stadium in Mumbai.

Suryakumar Yadav returns from injury after he had suffered a hairline fracture while fielding against the West Indies in the third and final T20I in Kolkata on February 20. He was undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy at the time of the injury and has since recovered.

Suryakumar Yadav was released from his obligatory quarantine and joined the squad for a gym session with teammates Kieron Pollard, Ishan Kishan, and Jasprit Bumrah, according to a statement released by the franchise on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the players had a strength and conditioning workout under Paul Chapman’s cautious eye. According to the statement, the session included weight and fitness training with a focus on improving core fitness and strength.

In Yadav’s absence, the Mumbai Indians’ middle-order had struggled to build on the good start provided by openers Rohit Sharma (41) and Ishan Kishan (81), who raised 67 for the opening wicket in their four-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals. Mumbai Indians had posted a below-par 177/5 that Delhi chased in 18.2 overs.
