Nicolas Pooran to Lead West Indies full-time Captain in ODI and T20I

Wicket-keeper batsman, Nicolas Pooran to Lead West Indies full-time Captain in ODI and T20I. Pooran will captain the team at the T20 World Cup in 2022 and the Cricket World Cup in 2023. On Tuesday, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced Nicolas Pooran to Lead West Indies full-time Captain in ODI and T20I. Pooran will take over as captain from Kieron Pollard, who recently retired after leading the West Indies in white-ball cricket for more than two years.
After the announcement of Nicolas Pooran to Lead West Indies full-time Captain in ODI and T20I, Shai Hope, the team’s opening batsman, has been recommended as the new limited-overs vice-captain. Pooran is expected to head the team in both the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 and the Cricket World Cup in India in 2023.

In Pollard’s absence, Pooran led West Indies to a five-match T20I series against Australia last year and two ODIs against India earlier this year. So far in his career, the 26-year-old has represented his country in 37 One-Day Internationals and 57 Twenty-20 Internationals.
