Mitchell Starc made history during Australia’s 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eight encounter with Bangladesh in Antigua on June 20, becoming the top wicket-taker in World Cup history (ODI and T20).
The tall Aussie pacer surpassed former Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga’s record of 94 wickets by claiming his 95th scalp in the opening over of the match.

With a textbook out-swinging delivery, Starc dismissed Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan. His record now stands at 65 wickets in ODI World Cups and 30 in T20 World Cups.
The previous record was held by Malinga, who claimed 94 scalps – 56 in the 50-over World Cup and 38 in the T20 World Cup.
Bangladesh’s seasoned allrounder Shakib Al Hasan ranks third among the all-time leading wicket-takers, with 92 wickets. Shakib has the opportunity to surpass Starc during the ongoing T20 tournament in the Caribbean.
