Indian spinner Amit Mishra revealed that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be looking for a better captain for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, which means the team might replace KL Rahul.
The Lucknow Super Giants, who made it to the IPL playoffs in consecutive seasons in 2022 and 2023, had a terrible campaign in the 2024 season as they failed to make it to the playoffs.

Furthermore, things got heated between the owner, Sanjiv Goenka, and KL Rahul after the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Uppal Stadium. This was a must-win game for LSG, and they suffered a terrible and embarrassing defeat.
After the match, Sanjiv Goenka was seen scolding KL Rahul off the field, which was caught on camera and turned into a huge controversy. This incident sparked reports of KL Rahul parting ways with LSG.

According to Amit Mishra, who plays for LSG in the IPL, the team is looking to part ways with KL Rahul and will be searching for a better captain next season.
During a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, Amit Mishra said:

“Yes, they will be looking for a better option next season.”

Now it will be interesting to see if KL Rahul will be demoted from the captaincy or released ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. If he is released, there are plenty of franchises that will be eager to sign KL Rahul.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will surely look to go for KL Rahul, especially after their wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik, retired from the IPL last season. Additionally, Bangalore is KL Rahul’s home city.
