West Indies tour of Pakistan is confirmed as Pakistan will host the West Indies for a three-match ODI series on June 8, 10, and 12 at the Rawalpindi Stadium, according to the PCB. All three games, which are part of the 2023 World Cup Super League, were originally set to take place in December but were postponed.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday that West Indies tour of Pakistan is confirmed and the teams will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) against the West Indies at the Rawalpindi Stadium on June 8, 10, and 12. (March 28). Meanwhile, the PCB is still to decide whether the series would be played in a bio-secure bubble or whether the visiting West Indies team will be subjected to any quarantine.
On June 5, the West Indies will arrive in Islamabad for the forthcoming series. It happened on their December trip of Pakistan. The West Indies camp was infected with the Covid-19 virus upon arrival, with three players and one member of the support staff testing positive.
The two teams were able to complete the three-match T20I series despite the Covid-19 cases. The ODI rubber, which was scheduled to follow, was postponed to June as the infection claimed the lives of five more members of the West Indies camp.
The ODIs were part of the West Indies tour of Pakistan schedules in December 2021. However, after five Covid-19 instances were reported on the West Indian side, they were postponed with mutual consent. The West Indies have also agreed to play three Twenty20 Internationals in early 2023, with a schedule to be announced later.
The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League includes the One-Day Internationals. The top seven teams from this tournament, as well as the hosts of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, India, will automatically qualify for the ultimate 50-over competition, which will take place following year in October/November.
