New Zealand prolific batter, Ross Taylor bids emotional farewell in his final match and received a standing ovation in Hamilton.
In a 115-run one-day international victory over the Netherlands, the batter made his final outing for the Black Caps.
He was in tears during the national anthem and had a guard of honour from the Dutch players when he came to bat, accompanied by his three children.
The 38-year-old was out for 14, but he made the game-winning catch to remove Aryan Dutt of the Netherlands.
Ross Taylor bids emotional farewell, who got the game-winning wicket in his final Test in January, finishes his 16-year international career with 7,683 runs in Tests and 8,607 in One-Day Internationals, both New Zealand records.
“It’s been a pleasure working with you. “I relished every moment of it,” the former skipper remarked.
“Ross is without a doubt one of the absolute greats of New Zealand cricket, as well as one of the greats of world cricket,” stated NZC chairman Martin Snedden.
“However, it isn’t simply his statistics that have endeared him to New Zealand cricket fans. That’s one of his own distinctive characteristics.”
New Zealand scored 333-8, with Martin Guptill hitting 106 and Will Young 120, before being bowled out for 218 by the hosts, who won the series 3-0. Seamer Matt Henry took 4-36.
