Cummins only played five games for Kolkata Knight Riders during the IPL season, but it was enough time for him to score the tournament’s joint-fastest fifty. He also took seven wickets in his last game against the Mumbai Indians, including three for 22. Now that Pat Cummins ruled out of IPL 2022, it will be harder for KKR.

The Test captain has already been rested for the three-match T20I series that will start off Australia’s month-long tour of the island nation.
Cummins has seven wickets in five games for KKR this season, including a match-winning 3/22 against the Mumbai Indians. Cummins has also made waves for his batting abilities this season, scoring 56 runs in 14 balls with a strike rate of 373.33 against the Mumbai Indians in his maiden match.
With 10 points from 12 games, KKR is still in the playoff fight. KKR would need to win their final two games, but they would also be counting on other results to go their way. BUt with Pat Cummins ruled out of IPL 2022, it adds a lot of pressure on the team.
Cummins has decided to take a step back and get his body right, with Knight Riders looking unlikely to move past the group round and Australia facing a hectic year that includes defending their T20 World Cup title in October. The 29-year-old has already been rested during the Sri Lanka tour’s T20I leg. But, as Test captain and all-round new-ball bowler, he’ll be extensively involved in the team’s other commitments, which include a five-Test home summer, a Test tour of India, and an Ashes campaign in England.
Cummins arrived in the IPL fresh off a successful tour of Pakistan. In Lahore, his 5 for 56 and 3 for 23 wickets were crucial in Australia’s 1-0 victory. Prior to that, he led the side to a resounding Ashes triumph in his debut series as captain, taking 21 wickets across four Tests.
