Chennai Super Kings all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja ruled out for rest of the IPL season due to injury, the team said on Wednesday.
CSK’s captain was Jadeja at the start of the season, but he handed over the reins to MS Dhoni midway through.
“Jadeja reported a bruised rib and was unavailable for Chennai Super Kings’ game against Delhi Capitals on Sunday. He was under observation and based on medical advice he has been ruled out for the rest of the IPL season.”

On May 4, Jadeja was injured while attempting a catch during an IPL match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He instantly appeared in discomfort, and although finishing the contest, Jadeja was forced to miss the DC tie, only the second time the dynamic all-rounder has missed a match for CSK since joining the franchise in 2012. Jadeja has already had two injuries in the last seven months. After a bad run of results in the IPL 2022, Jadeja renounced his captaincy and handed it back to MS Dhoni. Jadeja understood the pressure of captaincy after never having done so before this season. Not only did the defending champions CSK struggle, but so did Jadeja’s play. Jadeja finished the season with 116 runs from ten innings, two ducks, and only five wickets, making it one of his worst seasons in the IPL.
Last Sunday, Jadeja was unavailable for CSK’s match against Delhi Capitals (May 8) and now it is confirmed Ravindra Jadeja ruled out for rest of the IPL season. On Thursday, CSK will play Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium (May 12). On May 15, they play Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede, while their season concludes on May 12 with a match against Rajasthan Royals.
Meanwhile, there’s no word on whether team management was aware of the injury ahead of time, raising more worries about Jadeja’s status on the bubble after the final check it is confirmed that Ravindra Jadeja ruled out for rest of the IPL season. Even the selectors, who had been informed of the injury, did not appear to be aware of it. Chetan Sharma, the chief selector, did not react to a question.
