“For my first series in command, I’m very delighted to be leading a great group.” With a mix of youth and experience, we have a lot of depth. “We want to keep playing in an expressive style that allows our players to show off their skills and firepower,” Mott added.

“Luke Wood is well-deserving of his call-up. Over the last 12 months, he has been a steady performer for Lancashire, and we have been keeping an eye on his development. If given the chance to play, I’m confident he’ll make the most of it.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the sport, since it is the first time England Men have faced The Netherlands in an ODI series. We can’t wait to get to Amsterdam and put on a show for the tens of thousands of fans who have travelled to see the team,” he added.

Eoin Morgan, the team’s usual white-ball skipper, will be in charge. The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will be held in India next year, and Mott is looking forward to it.

“The ODI team has got few opportunities and hasn’t played since July,” he explained.

“However, with only roughly 18 months before the next ICC 50-over World Cup in India, we’ll start stepping up our preparations with nine matches this summer and a busy winter ahead against quality opponents,” he continued.

England will try to overtake Bangladesh at the top of the CWCSL table, but they’ll have to beat the Netherlands 3-0 to do it.
