Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings game shifted due to COVID, the IPL 2022 match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings on Wednesday (April 20) has been shifted to Brabourne Stadium.
According to a BCCI press release, the decision to transfer the game from Pune, where it was originally scheduled, was made “to avoid any subsequent issue owing to any undiscovered case during a long-distance bus travel in a closed environment.”
Mitchell Marsh and four members of the Delhi Capitals’ support staff had tested positive for the virus as of midday April 19 and hence the decision to get Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings game shifted due to COVID. However, a fourth round of RT-PCR testing conducted on Tuesday morning came out negative. The contingent, which has been isolated since Sunday, will be subjected to more testing in the morning.
Because of the urgency of the situation, Cricbuzz understands that the samples of the Delhi players and support personnel were taken earlier than usual this morning so that the BCCI could make a decision on the game’s fate – whether to play it in Pune, shift it to Mumbai, or reschedule it entirely.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings team, which was supposed to go to Pune for the game, has stayed in Mumbai and will train on Tuesday evening.
