Archer had elbow surgery and then returned to Sussex for county cricket before sustaining a stress fracture.

His most recent competitive action was a T20 encounter versus Kent in Hove.

Archer has 86 wickets to his name in 42 international matches for England, spanning three forms. England has been without him in crucial competitions such as The Ashes and the T20 World Cup 2021, when they failed to qualify for the final and finished in the semi-finals.
