India are scheduled to play a Test match (carry over from previous series) along with six white-ball games in the month of July.
Archer last played in an international cricket match against India in March 2021. However, he has been battling an elbow issue since then.
The England pacer will miss the fifth Test against India, which has been rescheduled for July 2022 after the series was halted last year owing to coronavirus outbreaks in the Indian bubble. Archer will also miss the India tour’s limited-overs portion.
Archer had elbow surgery and then returned to Sussex for county cricket before sustaining a stress fracture.
His most recent competitive action was a T20 encounter versus Kent in Hove.
Archer has 86 wickets to his name in 42 international matches for England, spanning three forms. England has been without him in crucial competitions such as The Ashes and the T20 World Cup 2021, when they failed to qualify for the final and finished in the semi-finals.
