The newly appointed captain of Mumbai Indians (MI), Hardik Pandya, has joined the team ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season in Mumbai.
However, the reception from Mumbai Indians fans hasn’t been positive, with trolls targeting him from the moment the Mumbai Indians official account shared news of his arrival.

Here’s how fans are reacting to the post:

All of this boils my head so much. How has this franchise grown so spineless? This is the guy that was talking shit about the franchise after he left. I can never wrap my head around how they are treating him so normally and giving him respect, now that he’s back. https://t.co/hPzFZraJ5t— ab (rohit’s version) (@ydisskolaveridi) March 11, 2024

I don’t even know to whom my hate is directed because I hate everything about this video. Cannot stand these two particular people even for a bit. https://t.co/kdr5UaLRhX— . (@_timepass__) March 11, 2024

It was inevitable that Mumbai Indians would see a shift in leadership with the return of Hardik Pandya in a groundbreaking trade during the IPL 2024 auction on December 19.
After MI’s release ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Hardik assumed captaincy for the newly-established Gujarat Titans. His maiden stint as IPL captain bore fruit, clinching the title for Mumbai Indians in 2022 and securing a final berth in 2023.
After clinching the IPL crown in 2020, Mumbai Indians, with five championship titles, missed the playoffs in 2021 and 2022, exiting in the first elimination match in 2023. Their dismal 2022 season culminated with a bottom-of-the-table finish.
