Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah lauded Romario Shepherd for his exceptional batting display against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the recent IPL 2024 match.
Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL champions, clinched their maiden victory under the leadership of new captain Hardik Pandya by outplaying Delhi Capitals with a 29-run triumph at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
After Hardik Pandya’s departure in the 18th over, Romario Shepherd strode out to the middle and wasted no time in orchestrating a blistering 53-run partnership off just 13 balls for the sixth wicket.
The West Indies all-rounder launched a fierce assault in the closing over against Anrich Nortje, scoring a staggering 32 runs. He began with a boundary down the ground, followed by thrashing the next three deliveries for sixes.
Shepherd added another boundary off the fifth ball before concluding the onslaught with another powerful six off the final delivery. He wrapped up his knock for unbeaten 39 runs from just 10 deliveries.
Shepherd’s stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award for his crucial contributions to the victory.
Here’s what Jasprit Bumrah said in the video:
“It was really good to get the win; the atmosphere was also great. Our team was feeling refreshed after the break so I’m really happy. Special mention to Romario Shepherd. It was wonderful to see him finish the game so strongly. Good not to be on the other end.”
Mumbai Indians will lock horns with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next game on Thursday, April 11, at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
