Former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden believes that Shivam Dube should definitely be a part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will take place in the United States and the West Indies in June.
Dube played a crucial role for CSK during their 5th IPL title win in 2023. Excelling as a finisher, he scored 418 runs in 16 matches with an average of 38. He has continued his good form this season, scoring 148 runs in just 4 matches at an average of nearly 50 and a strike rate of 161.
”The conditions which don’t bounce a lot. Now, I know the first game is going to be up in New York for India against Pakistan, but generally, power hitters who love to hit the ball in these sort of ranges, they can really dominate in the Caribbean. So that’s an exciting prospect, actually,” Hayden told Star Sports.

Hayden further added how the former Indian cricketers are highly impressed with the tall all-rounder and want to see him in India s squad for T20 World Cup 2024:
“And, we’re talking about Indian selection with IPL and they go hand in hand because of the pressure, dovetailing, performances together. Yuvraj Singh and Irfan Pathan, their eyes light up when they see the possibility of the inclusion of Shivam Dube,” Hayden added.
“I think it’s an interesting call and a watch this space, certainly. And he’s not doing it this season, he has done it last year as well. He has done it for a very long period of time. Last year also he was top class,” Hayden added.
Given Hardik Pandya‘s crucial role in India’s playing XI as a fast-bowling all-rounder, it’s highly doubtful that Shivam Dube will be part of the starting lineup for the T20 World Cup 2024. However, he could be added to the team squad as a reserve player.
