Delhi Capitals (DC) captain, Rishabh Pant, pointed fingers at the ‘loud’ Visakhapatnam crowd and a screen malfunction for not being able to take DRS call involving Sunil Narine in the latest IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Rishabh Pant made these statements following his team’s crushing 106-run loss to Kolkata Knight Riders at Vizag Stadium, where their all-rounder Sunil Narine’s explosive 85 off 39 balls stole the spotlight.
Opening the innings for KKR, Sunil Narine mercilessly thrashed the Delhi Capitals bowlers, particularly Ishant Sharma, whom he plundered for 26 runs in a single over.
However, Rishabh Pant’s delayed decision to request a DRS review for a potential edge during Narine’s innings led to the umpires dismissing the appeal. Here’s what what Rishabh Pant had to say about this in the post-match conference:
“It was quite loud (the venue) and couldn’t see the timer on the screen (talking about the non-DRS moments) and there was some issue with the screen as well, there are some things you can control and some you cannot control, you just need to go with the flow.”
Additionally, Rishabh Pant missed another opportunity to take a DRS call when KKR captain Shreyas Iyer edged the ball. Had Pant opted for the review, Shreyas would have been dismissed.
