Former Indian cricketer and legend Ravi Shastri believes that the captaincy issue between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya could have been managed better by the Mumbai Indians’ management. He also blamed the management for all the chaos.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 season, the Mumbai Indians management secured Hardik Pandya’s services via a monetary deal with the Gujarat Titans, subsequently naming him captain and replacing Rohit Sharma, the five-time IPL title-winning leader.
However, Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma’s supporters weren’t too thrilled about it. They have been giving Hardik Pandya a hard time ever since IPL 2024 began, no matter where he’s playing – be it in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, or most recently at Wankhede stadium.
Speaking on it, here’s what Ravi Shastri said:
“The captaincy issue between Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya could have been handled better, but it is owners call who they want as the captain. They spend the money.”
With three matches under their belt in the tournament, Mumbai Indians have faced defeat in all three, including their most recent loss to the Rajasthan Royals.
