Sunrisers Hyderabad openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma blitzed the RCB bowlers, putting a mammoth 108-run opening partnership in just 49 deliveries, setting the stage for a flying start for SRH after putting to bat first.
In an electrifying display of batting, Travis Head raced to the fastest century of the season in a mere 39 balls, while Abhishek Sharma provided valuable support with a brisk 34 off 22 deliveries. Adding to the fireworks, Heinrich Klaasen smashed 67 runs from 31 balls.
Aiden Markram and Abdul Samad joined the onslaught, contributing rapidfire innings of 32 and 37 runs respectively, staying unbeaten as SRH amassed a record-breaking total of 287 runs for the loss of three wickets in the IPL history.
During the mid-innings chat, Travis Head revealed that both their captain, Pat Cummins, and head coach, Daniel Vettori, consistently pressurise their batters to capitalize on good starts and deliver with the bat.
Here’s what Travis Head said:
“We have tried to take on the game (after quick starts). We just try to maximise the powerplay and then we try to keep going. Pat (Cummins) and Dan (Vettori) put pressure on the batting line up to make sure we keep going. All the guys are stepping up in each game.”
Travis Head hits the fourth fastest century of the IPL history while its the fastest ever for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the tournament history.
