With every passing year, the IPL auctions are getting bigger and grander. The 2024 IPL auction was no exception to this, as everyone got to witness records being shattered with expensive bids.
The 2024 auction set the tone for the 17th IPL season and also showed a glimpse into what’s in store in the upcoming season. The IPL franchises pounced aggressively on many overseas players, splurging huge amounts on them.
Along with the overseas players, many Indian uncapped players found themselves in fierce bidding wars between teams. However, a few prominent foreign and domestic players didn’t get any bids and remained unsold in the auction.

Chennai Super Kings
CSK bought New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell as a replacement for Ben Stokes, who was released ahead of the auction. CSK signed him at a whopping price of INR 14 crore. The defending champions added one more Kiwi into their ranks as they got Rachin Ravindra for INR 1.80 crore.
Shardul Thakur also made his way back in the yellow jersey after 3 years. The franchise also bought a promising Indian middle-order batter, Sameer Rizvi, by bidding INR 8.40 crore.
