The two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) sustained a dreadful IPL 2022 season as they failed to reach the playoffs and finished seventh in the league standings.
In the mid-tournament, they suffered five back-to-back defeats, which killed their playoff hopes completely. Their batting led by skipper Shreyas Iyer was a massive letdown for them.
While they got a match-winner in the form of Uttar Pradesh batter Rinku Singh, there were some clear gaps in the setup of the two-time champions that led them down in the tournament.
Kolkata Knight Riders will look to fill in the gaps and rectify the mistakes they committed in the mega-auction, held earlier this year in February. While they’ll look to keep their core strong, there are a few players the Purple Army would look to get rid of.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked all ten teams to submit the list of their retained and released players by November 15 while the mini-auction for IPL 2023 will take place on December 23 at Kochi.
The list will be updated once KKR confirms their retention and released players.
