The Indian cricket team is set to depart from Barbados to return to India on Tuesday, July 2, on a special flight arranged by the BCCI. The team, led by Rohit Sharma, has been stranded on the island since winning the T20 World Cup 2024 due to poor weather, which caused all the airports to shut down.
Due to the weather conditions, the Indian cricket team has been staying in their hotel. According to reports, they are scheduled to depart Barbados at 6 PM local time, which is 3:30 AM Indian Standard Time.

This means they will be flying from Barbados early Wednesday and are expected to arrive in India by 7:45 PM.
Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced that the island’s airport, which had been shut down by a Category 4 hurricane, is expected to reopen within the next 6 to 12 hours.

“We are working diligently to resume normal airport operations as soon as possible. I have been in direct communication with the airport personnel, who are currently conducting their final checks. However, I do not want to make any definitive statements before the process is complete. Our top priority is to restore regular service with the utmost urgency,” stated Mottley to PTI.

“Many people were scheduled to depart late last night, today, or early tomorrow. We aim to assist these individuals and expect the airport to reopen within the next 6 to 12 hours,” she added.

The Indian cricket team is sure to receive a grand welcome when they arrive in Delhi with the World Cup trophy, ending a wait that spanned more than a decade.
