IND vs ENG Highlights, World Cup 2023: India beat England by 100 runs in a low-scoring thriller on Sunday to register a sixth consecutive win at Cricket World Cup 2023. Mohammed Shami (4 for 22) shone with a four-wicket haul in Lucknow as India successfully defended a total of 229 for 9 against the title holders England. Jasprit Bumah also starred with figures of 3 for 32. It was Rohit Sharma’s 87 and Suryakumar Yadav’s 49 that helped India post a fighting total after England skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl. (Scorecard | Points Table)

India captain Rohit Sharma, who scored 87 runs off 101 balls on the tough track of Lucknow, has been awarded the Player of the Match honour. “It was a challenging pitch, it got better to bat on as the game progressed, but happy with that win. I have got the experience, it’s not only about going out there and playing my shots. I still felt we were 20 runs short (at the halfway stage). Batting against the new ball was a bit challenging, the ball got softer and it wasn’t easy rotating strike either. Like I said we were 15-20 runs short, but I will take that win any day,” said Rohit.
