The India tour of Sri Lanka 2024 officially kicks off from July 27 as the Men in Blue goes head-to-head against the Lankan Lions in the first T20I of the three-match series on Saturday at the Pallekele Stadium.
It will be a very special series for Team India, considering that they will be playing their first series without the two stars, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who retired from T20 internationals after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. Suryakumar Yadav will be looking to carry on the legacy set by Rohit Sharma as captain.
This will be the first series for Gautam Gambhir as head coach of the team, and it will be interesting to see how the team functions under his leadership. Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Arshdeep Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi will all be in action for the first T20I.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka has been dealt a tough blow with fast bowlers Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Thusara ruled out just before the T20I series against India. Captain Charith Asalanka will be taking over the reins from Wanindu Hasaranga who stepped down from captaincy after the team’s group stage exit in the T20 World Cup 2024.
