ICC Opens Cricket Archives

For those cricket fans missing the fix of their favorite sport when they are forced to stay at home during national lockdowns, the ICC has chosen to provide some relief. They have decided to open their archive of footage from matches going back to 1975, giving people the chance to relive – or, in some cases, experience for the first time – some of the greatest moments in the history of cricket.

The move will enable fans across the world to view cricketing highlights, interviews and commentaries  dating back 45 years, and includes test matches, men and women’s T20 World Cups, Champions Trophy matches, and the under 19 World Cups as well.

At a time when all sporting activity across the world has almost ground to a halt, and with little immediate prospect of a return, the ICC believes that the need to connect with their communities of fans is greater than ever, and with no live cricket to watch, they have looked to provide the next best thing.

Fans can also access the ICC’s Facebook page and participate in Watch Parties, as some of the most famous games in the history of the sport are replayed.

In addition, fans can download match highlights and summaries of major tournaments through the ICC   website, and social media channels, as well as their mobile app, and can ramp up their involvement by voting on the memories that they want to see again from the ICC archives.

Whilst the ICC move is no substitute for live cricket, for somebody forced to stay at home by government edict and laws on social distancing, and who is looking for a way to pass the time, they can do worse than taking the time to sit down, relax, and enjoy some of the great moments from yesteryear.
