The Mumbai Indians‘ newly recruited fast bowler, Gerald Coetzee, has joined the team in Mumbai ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
Earlier, the South African pace bowler Gerald Coetzee expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Mumbai Indians (MI), the five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
Coetzee also expressed his excitement about the opportunity to play alongside new skipper Hardik Pandya and bowl alongside the formidable Jasprit Bumrah, one of cricket’s premier fast bowlers.
“I’m extremely grateful to be picked up by the Mumbai Indians. I cannot wait to run in at the Wankhede, listen to the fans sing and cheer, play under Hardik (Pandya), and bowl with Bumrah. To all the fans, I cannot wait to see your faces and the flags in the crowd,” Coetzee told RevSportz.

Coetzee emerged as the standout performer for South Africa during the 2023 World Cup held in India. The pace maestro clinched 20 wickets from 8 matches with an impressive economy rate of 6.23. His stellar performance included a notable spell of 4 wickets for 44 runs in 10 overs against Afghanistan in Ahmedabad.
In his international career representing the Proteas, Coetzee has featured in 3 Test matches, 14 ODIs, and 4 T20Is, accumulating a noteworthy total of 47 wickets, including two stellar four-wicket hauls.
