The Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq has shared insights on the highly-discussed clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the IPL 2023 campaign.
The LSG pacer reckoned that the former mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, Gautam Gambhir got carried away with the shush gesture in Bengaluru as Harshal Patel tried to run out one of the players at the non-striker’s end.

“Gautam Gambhir got carried away [with the shush gesture] because in the previous game, when we needed 1 off 1, one of their bowlers wanted to run the non-striker out while running in to bowl. It was the last wicket. It got heated because the bowler missed taking the bails off,” Naveen said in a podcast with Zalmi TV.

“Spirit-wise it wasn’t looking good because it had proven to be such a good game by then. It would have been a shame had it ended in a run out. Because of that, he wanted to silence the crowd. He is a passionate guy, and so is Virat,” Naveed further added.

What started as a dispute between Naveen and Kohli during the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore match turned into a larger confrontation when Gambhir stepped in and confronted Kohli.
In other news, Virat Kohli and Naveen have patched things up during the World Cup 2023. On the other hand, Gautam Gambhir has parted ways with Lucknow Super Giants to join Kolkata Knight Riders as a mentor for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
