Chris Gayle, the West Indies batting icon, continues to back Virat Kohli even though he’s having a tough time in the current T20 World Cup.
Virat Kohli, often hailed as a T20 cricket legend, has had a tough time this year, accumulating just 75 runs at an average of 10.71 in the tournament.
Interestingly, in this T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli adopted a new role as an opener. However, this decision appears to have backfired as he is yet to deliver with the bat.
Speaking during a press conference ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024 final, Chris Gayle said that while Kohli has struggled to score runs, big-match players are known for performing in big games.
“These things happen to superstars or world-class players such as Virat. We know how dominant he has been in previous World Cups. A bat patch, it can happen to anybody.”
“He is in the final, and sometimes big players can be called upon and step up and win the actual game for the team as well. So you cannot write off a player like Virat Kohli without a doubt. We know how special he is, so we just have to wait and see what he delivers tomorrow,” Gayle said.
Virat Kohli excels under pressure, and in the final match, he will strive to deliver an outstanding batting performance to guide India to a much-awaited ICC trophy win.
