The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to announce the squad for India’s upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled to be held in June, during the last week of April.
As per the statement by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, Rohit Sharma is set to captain the Indian team once more in the upcoming World Cup, with Hardik Pandya as his vice-captain.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the selection of the batting giant, Virat Kohli will be contingent upon his performance in the squad ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season.
In addition, besides Virat Kohli, the selectors and management are also closely monitoring other players’ performances in the ongoing IPL 2024 to assess their form for potential selection in the T20 World Cup squad.
The upcoming T20 World Cup carries significant weight for Team India, particularly in light of their defeat in the previous home World Cup in India against Australia, despite their flawless performance in the league stage matches.
More than ten years have passed since Team India claimed the World Cup trophy, and in the past few years, they have experienced losses in the World Test Championship, as well as in both T20 and ODI World Cups.
